Furniture

Find the perfect accent with handmade Himalayan furniture of remarkable beauty.

Furniture in the Himalayas, historically, once existed only in monasteries and lamaseries. Family homes did not have furniture in the Western sense of tables and chairs. Even in the most affluent of homes what we consider rugs were the beds, chairs, and sofas of the Himalayan people. Monks and lamas, however, also had small tables, altars, and folding desks; larger pieces were commissioned for the residence of a visiting high lama. Cabinets were used for displaying and worshipping the deities.

More recently, non-monastical pieces have included wealth chests to inspire prosperity and smaller boxes, either painted or covered in leather, to hold herbal medicines and incense sticks.

Lotus Within furniture and decorative art collectibles are sourced from Tibet, Nepal, and India. All are handcrafted and beautifully detailed, from antique 18th-century cabinets to contemporary chests. These remarkable objects are carved and painted with the most eloquent of detail, from colorful flowers to the well-known Foo Dogs pattern and Tibetan Buddhist sacred symbols and mantras, aimed to benefit all sentient beings.

Each piece has been carefully selected by our expert curators to ensure quality and authenticity. Browse our latest furniture collection below. You are sure to find a special item to enrich your own environment with a taste of spiritual and inspirational Himalayan decor.
